Malaysia policy rate holds at 2.75% in October 2026

Malaysia's central bank policy rate was 2.75% in October 2026, according to Bank Negara Malaysia. The rate was the same in September 2026. Housing Market Group calculated the change between September 2026 and October 2026 from Bank Negara Malaysia figures, and it came to 0 percentage points.

Earlier months in 2026 show the same level. Bank Negara Malaysia figures put the policy rate at 2.75% in June 2026, July 2026 and August 2026, as well as in September 2026. The rate was also 2.75% a year earlier, in October 2025. HMG's calculation of the change between October 2025 and October 2026 is 0 percentage points. Rates elsewhere moved over the same year. According to the Bank of Canada, Canada's policy rate was 2.5% in October 2026. HMG calculates this as a rise of 0.25 percentage points from October 2025. Germany's policy rate was also 2.5% in October 2026, according to Deutsche Bundesbank, and HMG's figures show it rose by 0.5 percentage points between October 2025 and October 2026. In the United Kingdom, the Bank of England's policy rate stood at 3.75% in October 2026. HMG calculates a fall of 0.25 percentage points compared with October 2025. Indonesia had the highest level in this comparison, with Bank Indonesia's policy rate at 5.75% in October 2026. No change on a year earlier is available for Indonesia here.

Germany and Canada recorded increases and ranked above Malaysia. The United Kingdom, where the rate fell, ranked below it. Malaysia's unchanged rate therefore sat between the countries that raised rates and the one that lowered them.

In terms of level, Malaysia's 2.75% in October 2026 was above the 2.5% recorded in both Canada and Germany for the same month. It was below the United Kingdom's 3.75% and Indonesia's 5.75%.
