Türkiye's central bank policy rate was 37.0% in September 2026, according to the Bank for International Settlements. Housing Market Group's calculation from those figures shows a change of 0 percentage points between August 2026 and September 2026. The benchmark rate stayed exactly where it had been the month before.

The September reading extends a run of stable rates. Bank for International Settlements figures put the rate at 37.0% in May 2026, June 2026, July 2026 and August 2026, the same level as in September 2026. The policy rate did not move at any point from May to September 2026. The fact sheet does not include a year-on-year change for Türkiye, so this article does not compare the current level with September 2025.

Compared with other economies, Türkiye's policy rate remains much higher than those of the comparison countries. Brazil, which also has a relatively high rate, had a policy rate of 13.75% in September 2026, according to the Bank for International Settlements. HMG's calculation shows that this was 1.25 percentage points lower than in September 2025. In the United Kingdom, the Bank of England's rate was 3.75% in September 2026, down 0.25 percentage points on a year earlier. Canada's rate was 2.25% in September 2026, according to the Bank of Canada, also 0.25 percentage points lower than in September 2025.

Other countries moved in the opposite direction between September 2025 and September 2026. The Reserve Bank of Australia's policy rate was 4.6% in September 2026, which HMG calculates was 1 percentage point higher than in September 2025. The Deutsche Bundesbank reported a rate of 2.5% for Germany in September 2026, and the Banco de España reported the same 2.5% for Spain. HMG's calculations show that each of these rates had risen by 0.5 percentage points compared with September 2025.

For housing markets, the policy rate is a key reference point for borrowing costs, including mortgage pricing. In Türkiye, the figures for September 2026 show a steady setting rather than a shift up or down. The fact sheet for this article does not include HMG's own platform data on search demand or listings for Türkiye, or a breakdown by region within the country. As a result, any link between the unchanged rate and buyer activity on the ground cannot be assessed from these figures alone.
