Indonesia's central bank policy rate stood at 5.75% in September 2026, according to Bank Indonesia. The figure matches the August 2026 reading, and Housing Market Group's calculation from Bank Indonesia figures puts the change between August and September 2026 at 0 percentage points. For households and developers, the policy rate is a key reference point for the cost of borrowing, including the loans used to buy and build homes.

The September level continues a stretch of stability. Bank Indonesia's figures show the rate at 5.75% in June 2026, July 2026 and August 2026 as well. Before that, the rate was lower, at 5.25% in May 2026. The policy rate therefore moved up between May and June 2026 and has stayed at the higher level in every month since, through September 2026.

Set against other economies in the same month, Indonesia's rate sits toward the upper end of the group Housing Market Group tracks. Brazil had a much higher rate of 13.75% in September 2026, according to the Bank for International Settlements, although that rate fell by 1.25 percentage points compared with September 2025, based on HMG's calculation. Australia's policy rate was 4.6% in September 2026, according to the Reserve Bank of Australia, which was 1 percentage point higher than a year earlier, by HMG's calculation.

Several advanced economies had lower rates than Indonesia in September 2026. The Bank of England's rate was 3.75%, down by 0.25 percentage points on September 2025. The Bank of Canada's rate was 2.25%, also 0.25 percentage points lower than a year earlier. In the euro area, the rate reported by the Deutsche Bundesbank for Germany and by the Banco de España for Spain was 2.5% in September 2026, in both cases 0.5 percentage points higher than in September 2025. All of these year-on-year changes were calculated by HMG from the respective central bank or Bank for International Settlements figures.

Taken together, the figures show Indonesia holding its rate steady in September 2026 while other central banks have moved in different directions over the past year. Some, such as those for Brazil, the United Kingdom and Canada, show lower rates than in September 2025, while Australia, Germany and Spain show higher ones. Indonesia's rate remains above all of these except Brazil's, and it has not changed since June 2026.
