Rents for private homes in Singapore moved higher in 2026 Q3. The rent index for private residential property stood at 164.6 in 2026 Q3, according to the Department of Statistics Singapore. The index uses a base period of 2009-Q1=100, so the latest reading shows rents well above that reference point.
The latest figure is up from 162.5 in 2026 Q2. Housing Market Group calculates this as a rise of 1.3% between 2026 Q2 and 2026 Q3, based on the Department of Statistics Singapore figures. Compared with a year earlier, the index rose 1.8% between 2025 Q3 and 2026 Q3, again according to HMG's calculation from the official data. The quarterly gain therefore accounts for a large share of the annual increase, which points to a pickup in rental growth in the most recent quarter rather than a steady climb spread evenly across the year.
Looking at the recent quarterly path, the index stood at 161.7 in 2025 Q3 before easing to 160.9 in 2025 Q4, according to the Department of Statistics Singapore. It then edged up to 161.4 in 2026 Q1 and to 162.5 in 2026 Q2, before reaching 164.6 in 2026 Q3. This means the softer reading at the end of 2025 was followed by gains in each quarter of 2026 so far, and the 2026 Q3 level is the highest in the period covered here.
From HMG's perspective, the pattern is one of a brief dip followed by a recovery that has gathered pace. The 2025 Q4 figure sat below the 2025 Q3 level, but by 2026 Q2 the index had moved back above it, and the 2026 Q3 reading extended that lead. The 1.3% quarterly change between 2026 Q2 and 2026 Q3 stands out against the smaller step-by-step moves seen earlier in the series, as the index moved from 160.9 to 161.4 and then to 162.5.
The figures cover private residential property only and describe the national index as a whole. They do not break down movements by district or by type of private home, so the data does not show whether the latest increase was broad-based or concentrated in particular parts of the market. What the official series does show is that private rents in Singapore were higher in 2026 Q3 than in any other quarter from 2025 Q3 onward.
